Raquel Mattern

Raquel has been dancing since the age of three. Her love of dance inspired her to move into an exciting and professional career. Raquel has performed on the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, numerous shows in Atlantic City casino resorts such as the Taj Mahal, Harrah’s, Trump’s Marina, Bally’s Grand, The Sands, Trump Plaza & Trump’s Regency. Raquel has also performed throughout Southeast Asia, Germany, Australia, and the United States in exciting places such as Lake Tahoe, Connecticut, Atlanta, St. Louis, New York, California, and Nevada. She has performed with such stars as Rip Taylor, Davy Jones, Marshall Sylver, The Tokens, Drifters, Platters and the Coasters. Raquel performed in multi-million dollar productions such as Siegfried & Roy at the Mirage, and EFX starring David Cassidy. She has also performed in shows at the Flamingo Hilton, Stratosphere, Studio 54 & The Sahara, all located on the famous Las Vegas strip. She returned to New Jersey to open her dance academy in the summer of 1998, after spending 4 years performing in Las Vegas. During her dance career Raquel was a featured dancer and lead adagio act in numerous shows. In addition she was a featured dancer and lead assistant on television and on stage in Australia, Southeast Asia and Germany. Along with dancing, she has also had the responsibility of being Dance Captain & Company Manager for many of the productions. In 1996 Raquel put her production career on hold to train extensively for American Rhythm Ballroom competitions with some of the world's top champions and coaches, traveling across the United States competing. Not only has Raquel’s professional career been extensively developed, but her dance training & teaching has fully developed as well. She studied with New Jersey Ballet, Broadway Dance Center with Frank Hatchett, Steps & Theatre Dance of New York City. She was also a member of the New Jersey Dance Theatre Guild and the Atlantic Contemporary Ballet Theatre. Raquel’s choreography has won numerous awards including high scores, excellence in jazz, and outstanding choreography. With over 33 years of teaching experience, Raquel has developed a passion to help young dancers develop their talents, and she continually broadens her dance knowledge by attending many dance teacher workshops, conventions and seminars and also by dancing and competing in numerous Atlantic City exhibitions and shows.
